The Tennessee State women’s basketball team returns home for one game after spending the past weekend in North Carolina. Friday’s contest against Lipscomb will mark TSU’s only home game until December 15 as they will play four straight on the road.

SERIES INFORMATION: This will be the 30th all-time meeting between the two schools separated by just 6.6 miles. The Lady Tigers lead the series 24-5. The two schools first met in the 78-79 season playing twice, with the Tigers winning both games (66-52, 63-56). TSU would then win the next eight matchups against Lipscomb to move to 10-0 before suffering their first loss to the Bisons in 1988. The Tigers have won the last two matchups, picking up a 74-64 win inside the gentry last season.
MUSIC CITY RHYTHM: Head coach Ty Evans has won three straight games against teams that are from Nashville. Last season saw his squad pick up wins over Fisk, Trevecca, and Lipscomb, all inside the Gentry Center. The fourth-year head coach is 5-4 against teams from the 615, which includes a 2-0 record against Lipscomb. All four losses have come against Belmont.
TURNOVER BATTLE: TSU leads the OVC in forced turnovers per game with 25.0. The Lady Tigers have won the turnover battle in two of their three games played. TSU forced 36 against Wilberforce, 16 against Charlotte, and 23 against UNC Asheville.
FIRST ONE-UP: Despite not having a start this season, Zyion Shannon has become the clear “6th” woman through three games as she is third on the team with 72 minutes played. Shannon is averaging 24.0 minutes per outing and 5.3 points per game. She has had back-to-back six-point games off the bench. Shannon played a season-high 28 minutes against UNC Asheville on Sunday.
TWO GOES FOR 12: Caitlin Anderson had her best outing of the season on Sunday as she tallied 12 points and five steals against UNC Asheville. Anderson is tied for the team lead with 7.3 ppg while leading the team in total minutes played with 76.
